Custom Knives - Jens Rahbek - DK

Jens Rahbek - DK

I'm Jens Rahbek, and I was born in 1961.  I work as a research and development engineer in the acoustic department of Bang&Olufsen, so I am only a spare-time knifemaker. I finished my first knife in 1980, but I have only made knives on a regular basis since 1993. My anual "production" is between 5 and 20 knives.

I see knives as tools. This means most of my knives are meant to be used in the field, but from time to time I like to make "showcase" knives in very exclusive materials - and they probably will never be used. Most of my knives are in the traditional Scandinavian design with a stick-tang blade, a wooden handle and a leather sheath, but I do make full-tang knives occationally.

'So far I have bought most of the blades from well-known Scandinavian blade-smiths. I focus very much on the visual appearence of the knife, and try to make each one a pleasure to the eye. I am very inspired by many Scandinavian makers like Jan Arild Jansen, Roland Strömberg, Leif Reiersen, Harald Sellevold and especially Knut Dahl, who, in my oppinion, is a real master in his field.

I am a member of The Danish Knifemaker Association and some local groups. I'm also a member of the Norwegian Knifemaker Association and the Swedish Knifemaker Association..

Enjoy the fine knives
