Custom Knives - Mikael Hansen - DK

Mikael Hansen

Mikael Hansen - Denmark

Mikael Hansen has been making knives for 25 years and is thus perhaps not the right person to give the novice access to knifemaking, but he knows the limitations of the beginner, as over the years he has held many courses for beginners in particular. The course business is continued and intensified.

Mikael has gradually created a safe Nordic style for me, which is, however, often challenged in an unconventional choice of materials, fun colors and wild shapes. It has gained recognition. So much so that he, as the only Dane, supplies knives to noma. Not for the chefs, but for the diners, who all get a Mikael Hansen knife in hand for the exquisite food.

Every day for the past five years, he has 12 posted a story on Facebook. Search Mikael Hansen Knives and the big knife book. That's more than 1800 small and large stories.

In 2007, he published "Den store Knivbog" at Forlaget Klematis, which has since been published in a second edition by Mikael's own publishing house.
In 1999 he published "Knife building with Mikael Hansen, at Forlager Mosegård.
Both books are Danish classics in the knife world. Both books have also been translated into Swedish.
Especially The Great Knife Book, has stood on many bedside shelves and been read and leafed through by tired men. Then closed the book, put it back, kissed the wife goodnight and turned off the light. The author appreciates the handling of the book.
Knivskolen - Tips and inspiration is a book for beginners and advanced users with precise instructions and plenty of inspiration. It is published in Swedish at the same time.

Mikael Hansen is deputy chairman of the Danish Knife Association, and regularly writes for the association's member magazine.
